When the scene opens, Ella (Maya Kendrick) is seen crying uncontrollably in front of her therapist, Dana DeArmond. Ella's behavior and the lack of progress they've made in their sessions have not impressed the therapist. Ella isn't reacting and doesn't seem to be genuinely attempting to get better, despite everything she has attempted. Ella lives alone in a gloomy room because she is afraid of the outer world. She collapses easily and suffers from severe social anxiety. She is certain that she will be approached by someone if she steps outdoors. She seeks to isolate herself in order to completely avoid being put on the position or having any sort of sexual experience. However, the therapist is done. It's time to bite the bullet if Ella is withdrawing herself merely to spare herself a small amount of minor embarrassment on the sexual front. It's time to go after she gains Ella's trust and surrender. Ella is shocked a short while later when she is led inside a boisterous nightclub.
